It is February 2nd 2025, and to be honest, things are not going well in the United States.

The Trump Administration as declared outright war on Transgender people, wiping away any and all mention of their existence. The FAA was gutted and then a horrifying Plane crash was blamed on “DEI”. Elon Musk and a handful of 20-somethings in his thrall have taken over the United States Federal HR branch and the Treasury Department.

Project 2025 is Go.

And the US Media and Opposition party, the Democrats, are continuing business as usual. Because why wouldn’t they?

Why would they be afraid? This is the United States of America. Land of Freedom and Opportunity. The Good Guy in every show. The hero of every history book.

The Greatest County in the World

And People wonder why Pobochi decided to become a clown.

On January 17th 2025, David Lynch passed away. Pobochi had never watched his films, though his sister apparently was a fan. So Pobochi was not prepared for the outpouring of love, grief, and remembrance for this Director that flooded BlueSky. People were posting moments that had power on their own. Pobochi remembers one which is just two frames, the first is a man apparently threatening an older gentleman, and he asks him what his greatest fear is.

The Old man responds, “The Possibility that love may not be enough”

These words, of pure sincerity and a good heart, etched themselves into Pobochi’s mind.

David Lynch’s command over language is incredible. These are spells that he is casting, spells that people needed.

David Lynch touched so many people by being a strange and weird human being and embracing that in everything he did.

Did he know? Is Pobochi only starting to learn things he knew in his heart and was trying to teach us?

The United States is officially about 250 years old, though was already causing harm as early as 500 years ago.

Has Pobochi’s country made the world better or worse overall? Has it brought more Good into the world? Or more Horror?

Pobochi looks around at the people around him and he doesn’t understand why they are not screaming. Why they are not rending shirts and flipping tables. Why we are accepting that this is all the world is allowed to be.

David Lynch did not fear looking like a clown. He did not explain himself and went out of his way to exist in the world as he understood it. He was present and humble before the totality of creation. Why on earth would he explain his films? If you asked him what he meant, you only revealed that you weren’t really paying attention. Dreams don’t feel like dreams when you are in them, few people realize when they are dreaming. You accept things that don’t make sense because you’re afraid of looking silly for questioning it. The United States is a dream.

No.

It’s a nightmare. And we are accepting that the nightmare is real rather than question the things that don’t make sense, because no one wants to be the one who looks silly.

Capitalism has the ability to subsume all critiques into itself. Even those who would critique capital end up reinforcing it instead. If that’s the case, why has Pobochi never been marketed clown? Not the Joker, not a Juggalo, not Ronald McDonald or one of those Sexy Clown Ladies that have become popular.

Clown.

The appeal of being a clown. The state of being a clown. The Philosophy of being a clown. Pobochi has never seen it. Marketing is about advertising something you want to be and no one in the US wants to be a clown, because being a clown means being ridiculous. It means being a joke. It means being unserious, unprofessional, un-edgy, untraditional, uncivil, it means being everything that the United States has said is the best to be.

Clown is immunity to capitalism. Clown is immunity to Patriotism. Clown is immunity to tradition. Clown is immunity to inferiority. The only inferior clown is the clown that’s trying to be cool, because that’s missing the point of being a clown.

Who tries to be cool before God? Who tries to be and edgelord before the Almighty? There is only one correct way to live before the totality of creation, and that is to create, out of joy and wonder.

Creation is an act of prayer

God does not require worship. God does not ask for tithes. If god can be said to want anything, it’s for you to be present in the moment and not be afraid.

How does one become a clown? You are already a clown. Every ringmaster in the world, those who create the rules and the dances and the bits so they can sell tickets to the show they put you in the ring for and give you wages in a currency that only they take and tell you “see you tomorrow”

They know you’re a clown.

And they live in terror of the day that you realize it too. Because the ringmasters run the circus only at the consent of the clowns.

What advantage is there to being a Clown? It frees you from the poison of Pride, that radioactive and insatiable demon fed to every child in the US. Or perhaps you know it by it’s popular rebrand….

Dignity

Of what value is Dignity? Can you Eat it? Can it shelter you from the cold winds? Can it stay the hands of your enemies?

Dignity has value because someone wanted you to do something you don’t want to do and they convinced you that you would receive Dignity in return.

People are patriotic because they receive Dignity for it.

People are professional because they receive dignity for it

People are obsessed with their image as a “good man” not even considering there are infinite alternatives to being a “man”, because it gets them dignity

If there is any value in dignity, its in trading it for an opportunity when it presents itself

Pobochi is back to being in a meeting room with five people and two great monitors on the wall. We are talking about Digital Transformation. Pobochi has stun-locked the room by asking what Digital Transformation is. A fascist is taking power next week. His main backers are railing about masculinity and one of the richest men on earth is being mocked for paying someone to make him look good at video games. LA burned this past week and the photos look like they are from hell. A ceasefire is being declared in Gaza because someone not from Biden went and talked to Netenyatu. Biden is being praised for warning us for things that he had no interest in fixing over the last five years. People are being proud about how they are choosing to say “President Trump” instead of just “Trump” because they think that accomplishing something meaningful.

Everything is too much, and its too big, and its too silly and too horrifying and too sad and too frustrating and Pobochi is in a meeting talking about digital transformation and one gentleman just realized he used a real marker on the whiteboard and that it’s not coming off.

And Pobochi’s fizzing brain possesses his washroom desiccated hands and makes them dance on his company keyboard on company time and Pobochi feels alive for an instant and wonders what it would be like to do this all day.

The United States is a Circus of Horror. But the Ringmasters run the circus only at the consent of the clowns.

Pobochi will start watching Twin Peaks this week.

Pobochi will seek new stories that can imagine a better world than this.

David Lynch was paying attention and Pobochi needs to know what he had to say.

Pobochi will find books about Ireland, because the United States lied when it said the founding fathers were his Ancestors.

Pobochi will read Black Trans Fem Authors, because they seem to be the only ones who knew what this place was, and Pobochi wants to know what worlds they dreamed of.

And then Pobochi will go into 2025 a clown of the Old Testament and see if he can find the song of God again.

And the Serious People? The ones who let it get this far?
