Project Big Top

Screw it. Silly hope is better than no hope.

Project Big Top

Project Big Top is a grassroots artist collective and experiment in absolute leftism. To join Project Big Top, all that is required is the rejection all philosophies and ideologies that treat hierarchy, authority, and obedience as virtues or even necessary evils. Project Big Top holds that the purpose of human existence is not the performance of labor in service to industry, but to promote the health of their community so that all may join in the exploration of creativity and self-expression.

Project Big Top recognizes that the philosophies of professionalism, decorum, expertise and civility have been used to quell revolutionary thought and populist movements for justice and change. As such, we reject these philosophies and seek the authenticity of militant decency. What you say matters more than how you say it. The right way to fix a problem is the way that results in the problem getting fixed.

Project Big Top recognizes that the framework of the Constitution of the United States and the resulting government apparatus is inherently built to protect and benefit the wealthy ruling class and depower and demoralize the working class majority of the United States. Therefore, Project Big Top deems the Constitution as null and void and seeks to bring about a new constitutional convention outside of the power structure of the establishment.

Project Big Top seeks the abolition of all institutions that have been used to punish, depower, abuse and exploit the working class of America, particularly those built around the maintenance of White Supremacy, which has served as a primary weapon of the ruling class.

Project Big Top seeks a reckoning for all those who have used their influence and wealth to inflict violence on people in America and abroad. We endorse international investigations and trials for all those who participated in and enabled war crimes. We seek the abolition of Billionaires, and a maximum limit to the net worth of any citizen, so that no one can ever have an outsized influence on the government again.

Project Big Top recognizes that all laws and law enforcement are used to protect and empower the ruling class. In order to protect one’s community, support one’s family, and enact meaningful change, one must break these laws deliberately. The breaking of the law is not an immoral act. The exploitation and enslavement of other humans is an immoral act. All laws that trap humans into positions of de facto exploitation and enslavement are inherently immoral and the enforcement of such laws shall be recognized as violence.

Project Big Top supports resistance against oppression and recognizes that bottom-up violence is necessary to successfully combat an oppressor. There is no such thing as a non-violent way to stop an empowered oppressor, especially one that uses the law to protect itself. Calls for an absence of hostility between an oppressor and the oppressed sidestep the need for justice and reparation. True peace can only exist after the oppressor has been stripped of their ability to oppress and reparations have been made for the harm they have caused the oppressed.

Project Big Top condemns the use of generative AI to rob humanity of the practice of art and creativity. We recognize its embrace by fascist movements and see it’s use as profound disrespect for the act of creation. We condemn the push from the ruling class to use generative AI as proof that capitalists neither understand or respect the labor they exploit.

Project Big Top promotes the use of art as an act of resistance. If you want to visibly identify as part of the collective, simply wear something that you have changed with your own art. This could be anything, some home-made jewelry, a tie-dyed piece of clothing, a piece of embroidery, even the use of brightly colored thread to repair something. The act of creation to reflect who you are is one of the most powerful things you can do. No one can take that away from you.

Project Big Top has no leadership. There are no Ringmasters here, only fellow clowns. This is a decentralized project, and everyone has the right to start their own group. All that is asked is that you hold to the ideals of this charter. No kings, no ringmasters. No one is more important. No one is better. Support your community. Defy those who would rule you. Bring more art into the world. Never shake hands with oppressors.

And above all, remember that you are a clown. What you are doing right now is silly. It has always been silly to hope for a better world. To try to good in the face of evil is silly.

Be Silly. Be Good. Welcome to the Circus.

The Big Top Standard, because people like a good flag. The five stars in the sky represent the ideals we aspire to: Creativity, equality, justice, community, decency. The star in the door of the tent represents humility. The Purple of the Tent represents Creativity and artistry. The gold represents Joy. The Blue represents hope. The Black sky represents the potential of the future.
